Stupid

Ever since moving to Melbourne I have been bombarded by sensualised stories that the media (in all forms) feasts upon and then regurgitates for us general public. Everything from shootings, stabbings, muggings, etc. The victims of these violent crimes range from all different ethnic backgrounds as well as nationalities given that Melbourne is quite a diverse city; it thrives and was built by immigrants. There's huge communities from Africans, Indians, Italians, Greeks, to even a small collection of us Americans. And yes, there's the typical image of your "everyday" Australian -- anglo-european descent.

But ever since moving to Melbourne, I have noticed that despite your background or looks people out late at night in bad parts of the town may be subjected to voilent crimes.

However, when a certain group -- Indians -- are victims of a stabbing or mugging all of a sudden the Indian community and anyone else sympathetic to this "racism" suddenly cry out that an injustice is being thrusted upon the Indian community. All of a sudden Australians are labelled racist, all the while the national government keeps its borders open and allows refugee boats to settle on Christmas Island and proceed with the immigration process for refugees... while the rest of us, myself included, pay out thousands of dollars out of our own pockets to wait in a month-long queue to determine whether we can stay or will be kicked out of Australia.

I see people of all shapes, sizes, and colors living in mixed communities cooperatively. I have never once witnessed a beating or attack on Indians alone. I have never witnessed people shouting racial slurs at Indians.

A lot of factors play a role in why it appears "only Indians are being attacked" (this being in quotes for it is an idea I read on facebook in response to certain news articles and what I've read in the Herald Sun, The Age, and in the free newspaper mX).

Factors on why Indians are "targeted":

1. Racism; I'm not going to deny it, racism is quite possibly one of the reasons some get targeted, but I'm convinced that not ALL attacks are racially motivated

2. They're out at night during the times predators would be roaming the streets; Indians are 9 times out of 10 working in shifts at convienance stores such as 7-11 or BP and so are working late at night and when they go home it's night time. Most Indians are students as well (and most victims happen to be students) and they might have a nighttime class.

3. Random statistics; the Indian population here has been growing along with other internationals therefore more of them are in the mix and may be targeted randomly.

4. Soft targets; maybe these Indians being attacked are carrying around a laptop case which suggests they have something valuable to take. Maybe they're alone and vulnerable.

Whatever the cause for the violence on Indians, I believe that the Indian community as well as India the country are responding to these attacks in an irrational manner, as seen in this news article: Australian cricketers threatened.

First off, what the fuck does our Cricketing team have anything to do with attacks on Indians?

Secondly, attacks on Indians isn't racist. Maybe SOME attacks are, but not ALL. What about all the attacks and muggings on white Australians? Is that racist? What about all the attacks and muggings on asians? Is that racist? What about all the attacks and muggings on Africans? Is that racist?

I'm fucking sick and tired of the race card.

I'm fucking sick and tired of people responding to racism WITH MORE RACISM!!!

I'm fucking sick and tired of RACE PERIOD.

RACE. DOES. NOT. EXIST!!!!!!!!

Read here to learn more or here or even here. Or maybe you'd like to buy this book and learn more.

Sooooooooooooooo

are these attacks on Indians racist or random?

I say random.

And the response the Indian community has towards Australia?

I say blind ignorance.
